The City of Bonham is the county seat of Fannin County, Texas and located northeast of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Bonham had a population of 10,127 during the 2010 Census and Fannin County has a population of 33,915.
what to see
Bonham is home to the late Sam Rayburn who served as the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives for 17 years, the longest tenure in U.S. history. While in Bonham, visit the Sam Rayburn Library for a look back in history or the Sam Rayburn House which is a Texas Historical Commission property. The Fannin County History Museum, located just south of the downtown historical district is an excellent place to learn about the history of Bonham and view some excellent exhibits showcasing the early days of one of the oldest counties in Texas. Come join the fun and excitement of one of the longest running trade days in North Texas, held the weekend after the first Monday of every month, rain or shine at the Bonham Civic Center located on West Sam Rayburn Drive. For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, the Lake Bonham Recreation Area offers camping, fishing, swimming, golf, and playgrounds for the kids. Bonham also offers the Bonham State Park and is just 10 miles south of the Red River.
