Registered Sex Offender Information

The following individuals are registered sex offenders within the City of Bonham. Pursuant to the requirements as set out in the Texas Sex Offender Registration Program, Art. 62 - Code of Criminal Procedure, these individuals have registered with the Bonham Police Department.

Effective March 10, 2014, the City of Bonham enacted a Registered Sex Offender (RSO) Residency Ordinance restricting RSOs from living within 1,000 feet of a Child Safety Zone. Registrants who were living in the City of Bonham at the time the ordinance was passed are "grandfathered", and at such time as the grandfathered registrant moves to a new address within the City of Bonham the ordinance will apply at that time. Residential Community Notification & Risk Levels

In an effort to make the public aware of the high-risk offenders, notices are mailed out by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Not all offenders have a risk level. Only offenders who are coming out of a penal institution or have been adjudicated as of January 1, 2000 and for whom registration is required must be assigned one of the following risk levels:

  • Civic Commitment: Repeat sexually violent offenders who suffer from a behavioral abnormality that makes the person likely to engage in a predatory act of sexual violence. These offenders are monitored closely by the law enforcement community 24 hours a day.
  • High: A designated range of points on the sex offender screening tool indicating that the person poses a serious danger to the community and will continue to engage in criminal sexual conduct.
  • Moderate: A designated range of points on the sex offender screening tool indicating that the person poses a moderate danger to the community and may continue to engage in criminal sexual conduct.
  • Low: A designated range of points on the sex offender screening tool indicating that the person poses a low danger to the community and will not likely engage in criminal sexual conduct.

High-Risk Public Notice

The Texas Department of Public Safety is required to send a High-Risk Notice to every residence within a 3-block radius of the address of any Risk Level Civil Commitment and Risk Level: High offender who was adjudicated as of January 1, 2000 (one-mile radius of a rural address). A High-Risk Offender who was adjudicated before January 1, 2000 will not have a notice mailed out.
